Since the launch of the fourth campaign, new Dungeon Master Brennan Mulligan has kept fans guessing with extensive world-building, a wide array of heroes, and a thrilling plot showcasing angels, demons, and dark forces expanding in influence within Dol-Makjar.
Heads-up: Key plot points for the latest installment of this adventure are included.
The Soldiers Table Introduced
The third episode finished on a major cliffhanger and revealed the premier party of characters who will separate from the primary party to begin their own adventure, apart from the remaining groups.
This warrior group features Teor (played by Travis), the nimble rogue (the talented performer), the strong-willed figure (Whitney Moore), Wicander Halovar (Sam), and the mysterious adventurer (Robbie Daymond).
Why Split the Party?
Given a large ensemble, it was obvious from the start that maintaining everyone at a single group would be unworkable.
This explains, the opening chapters of this story serve as an Introduction, weaving together the personal journeys before dividing into three smaller tables: Warriors, Schemers, and Explorers.
Characteristics of the Warrior Group
As described by the Dungeon Master, the combat-focused party is for adventurers who enjoy a classically intense battle-oriented gameplay experience where peaceful solutions are scarce.
Upon first impression, characters like the reluctant priest Wicander might look unsuited, but the events of episode 3 show why these specific adventurers are best suited for the Soldiers table.
Motivations for Departure
First, the team knows exactly where to proceed after a intense opening clash with The Crow Keepers.
A former ally of Thjazi Fang—whose demise started the story’s plot—exploited the enemy for his personal gain, invading Thjazi’s hideout, striking Thimble, and taking all the magical artifacts to sell off.
Casimir then cleared his liabilities and ran away to a fortified location in the remote area, north of the urban center, with Cyd Pridesire hot on his heels.
Individual Reasons
Secondly, each member has a personal reason to exit Dol-Makjar:
- The agile hero, as the close ally and best friend, wants retribution.
- The knowledgeable figure knows the region and advises that it is a nasty place.
- The warrior and The healer, having disobeyed his house’s orders to kill the target and instead freed him, have nowhere else to go.
- However, their status as prominent individuals in the influential clan could enable the group reach areas they usually can’t.
- Furthermore, Teor swore a eternal obligation to The cleric for his rescue and will now follow him anywhere.
Pursued by Authorities
Lastly, all of them are wanted by the rulers that control the city for a variety of reasons, making remaining behind too risky:
- The rogue and Kattigan are known criminals.
- The warrior and The healer turned against the powerful family and the legion of demons they are aligned with.
- The target is marked for death by the family.
This results in them little choice but to travel to the northern region in quest for the antagonist.
Future Episodes
Based on the latest episode’s Cooldown, we find out that the combat party won’t be around the following episode, leaving the other eight players to assemble the Explorers and Schemers groups.
Audiences can anticipate finding out which characters will be assigned to which table in the season’s concluding setup installment, streaming live on October 24.
