🔗 Share this article Battlefield 6's Relaxed Game Mode Sparks Intense Discussions Regarding AI Players, XP Rewards, and Wait Times Over the weekend, Battlefield Studios introduced a fresh playlist titled Relaxed Breakthrough. In essence, this option mirrors the regular Breakthrough setup but features several notable adjustments: Every squad includes just 8 human participants, with the remaining made up of 32 bots. Activities performed by human gamers award complete experience points, while bot actions offer reduced XP. Only two maps are available: Cairo Siege and Empire State. Features like Dogtags, achievements, and career stat updates are disabled. In short, the playlist lives up to its title: it's a laid-back version of Breakthrough. At face value, you might think there's nothing wrong, as it gives more options for gamers seeking different ways to have fun with the game. But, gaming history have taught us anything, it's that you can't please everyone. In other words, a lot of Battlefield 6 fans are mad. Community Reactions: Anger to Praise "Gamers prefer human opponents. Don't repeat the mistakes of your rivals," states a response to the official announcement. "Truly disappointing concept," comments a different user. Meanwhile, in community forums, one user notes, "It's unclear where we are going with this game," and someone else lists everything they believe to be broken in the game: "Resolve glitches, address drone issues, fix IVF rockets, fix [the] bloom after sprinting bug, improve hit detection. We do not require this bot mode." However, for every complaint, there are players explaining how much they're liking the recent addition. "It's very fun to practice, human participants keep it from being a total farmfest but it's quite laid-back," says one Reddit comment. "The community fails to see that there are players who have lives and don't play this game all the time. Allow them to strike a balance," states another. One reply via social media clarifies that as they're "a battledad with busy schedules, this is great for me," and someone else applauds the mode for "not being overcompetitive." Constructive Criticisms and Community Input All that said, there are valid points to complain about the new mode. A few folks have highlighted that it could increase queue times more extended for different playlists because of the large amount of playlists in the game already. On a similar note, certain regions already encounter mostly bots in the current modes. It also seems somewhat counterintuitive that the mode won't start without a required amount of human gamers, even though it focuses mostly on combat against bots. Lastly, one of the biggest grievances is that Battlefield Portal was meant to offer complete rewards, even against bots, but that was removed when they attempted to eliminate bot farms from the mode. Thus Casual Breakthrough seems like the community meeting them in the middle, according to forum feedback. A different user describes this addition as the developers "dropping the ball significantly, I experienced great enjoyment in the initial release, why did they feel the need to change it?" Future Prospects: Adjustments Occur? If Battlefield Studios has proven anything so far with the latest installment, it is that they're paying attention and acting on player input. Assignments being too difficult were adjusted rapidly, just like the specific battle pass objectives. Chances are that, if their data indicates this recent mode is underperforming to their standards, they won't be shy to change it again.
