Arne Slot Maintains He Is Safe and Retains The Club's Support After PSV Loss

Arne Slot admitted that it's understandable for doubts to be asked about his position following another heavy loss versus the Dutch champions.

Liverpool suffered their 9th loss in 12 games, marking the club's poorest streak after being relegated in the 1953-54 season.

They were taken apart by the Dutch league champions on a tough night at their home ground.

“I feel secure, things are alright, I have got plenty of backing from management,” the coach remarked.

“It would be great to turn it around and get a victory of course but if you are coaching a team and underperforming then it is normal that people question you.”

He noted, “I'm comfortable with my position. It is not the initial instance I've found myself in a challenging situation but it's necessary that we turned it around.”

Talks with Club Management

When asked to provide details on his dialogues with the club's leadership, Slot revealed:

“We talk a lot. They are supportive to the team and to me and we have those conversations but they don’t call me constantly each day to say they have faith in me.”

He further stated, “During our regular discussions I perceive the confidence. However I've not talked to them since this match yet so let’s see.”

Familiar Failings and Player Response

Slot highlighted familiar shortcomings from his team in their European loss, namely poor finishing and defensive lapses.

Meanwhile, midfielder Jones was more direct in his view of the current crisis.

“I haven't got the answers. Honestly, I do not. I'm telling that to everyone,” Jones said.

“It’s just not good enough. I don't have to wait to reflect. I'm beyond being angry inside. I’m at the point currently where I just don’t have the words.”

He went on, “It's difficult because I play for the side I follow. I’m a fan, and I’ve seen this club since I was young.”

“For many years, I haven’t experienced a Reds side experiencing a period such as this with results like these.”

He concluded, “However we continue to wear the crest on our chest. And until it is taken away, we'll continue to fight.”

“Our aim is to get this team back to the top, show everyone once more what Liverpool stands for and the reason it's called the greatest side in the planet.”

“However currently, things are bad and it needs to change.”
